In the 12th edition of the Global Peace Index, produced by the Institute for Economy and Peace, which ranks 163 independent states and its territory, Portugal maintained good indicators, ahead of countries such as Canada or Denmark.

Portugal is now considered the 4th most peaceful country in the world by the report, published in June. In front of Portugal are only Austria, New Zealand and, firstly, Iceland.

Europe has maintained the status of the most peaceful region in the world.
